IT IS OKAY TO FAIL.
So today I would like to encourage you.
In the midst of trying to secure a career or long-term goal, you must prepare yourself to face some failures. Even the most successful people have failed at one thing or another but how well they overcame their failures has made them the successful people they are today. How a person views failure is what makes or breaks them.
When I dropped out of university, I doubted myself- I had a tendency of failing at interviews, I missed interviews due to southern train delays and companies frequently declined my applications. However, despite all the negatives, I was forced into a position where I had to believe in myself. Whilst everyone around me saw me dropping out of university as a failure I saw it as a challenge. A challenge that would teach me the skills I now use to gain and thrive at amazing opportunities.
Like I mentioned previously, everyone that is successful has suffered a low point. But at your lowest points, what do you turn too? How do you keep yourself motivated and ready for opportunities?
Sometimes we believe we are ready for a new challenge but what are we doing to prepare for it.My pastor always says: “Failing to prepare is preparing to FAIL”.
This infamous quote has stuck with me through every low and high point in my life thus far. Where you want to see yourself in 3 months, or even 6 months, starts with what you will do today to prepare yourself ... in fact what you are doing right now. And through reading this blog post, you have started on the right track ;)
Hours quickly turn into days, days into weeks, weeks into months, months into a year and time evolves rapidly.
What do I want you to do?
1. Take a pen and write down your vision.
The bible says: “write down your vision and make it plain”. This will ensure that you stay focused whilst working towards your goal.
2. How will you get there? Research people who have had a similar vision to yours. Learn from their experiences and mistakes. This will help you to start envisioning your journey.
3. Ensure you do at least ONE thing a day working towards your goal.
4. Review your goal every week and every month to see your growth and changes you can make.
5. Ask for HELP. Seek advice from your council, friends and family. But do not share your vision with too many people because they might not understand and could instill fear or doubt in your mind.
Be encouraged. We all fail at some point but we must learn to keep going and transform our visions into reality.
